Introduced to Japan make a fuss the 19th century, slip-casting was absolute to the mass-production of utilitarian fleet for everyday use. Warped or accepting bowls and plates were perceived on account of defective and were immediately discarded, powerless to be used or sold. Shigekazu Nagae of Seto witnessed this direct as a child, seeing his granddad and father at the family kiln destroy these kiln failures without vacillation. Yet the curious Nagae questioned: ground can’t slip-casting be used to draw up unique and individual works of original art? Can’t one manipulate the focus of the kiln fires to expressly warp, shape and curve porcelain inspire forms previously unfathomable? Indeed, through strides in both innovation and experimentation, Shigekazu Nagae has played a key behave in elevating the technique of slip-casting to the avant-garde. Today, the principal is widely regarded as a meaningful figure in abstract porcelain, and has been a central figure of address gallery since our inception.
